Linea House explores what’s possible on a tight, topographically challenging site. Located in Sydney’s Bondi, the home was a collaboration between architect and builder (who was crafting their own home) to deliver a respectful response to its context while navigating street presence with privacy, and sculptural form with sustainable intent.
On the site of a former garage, the architecture is a layered composition of concrete, cedar battens and operable glazing that cleverly leverages the sloping site to deliver three levels within height restrictions.

The northern façade opens completely to connect the interior to the garden, reinforcing the brief’s emphasis on indoor-outdoor living and passive climate control. Sustainability is integrated throughout. Exposed thermal mass, deep eaves, and a dynamic skin of aluminium louvres manage heat, while solar panels are celebrated—not hidden—forming part of the home’s bold horizontal expression.

The elevated positioning of the private living spaces are veiled by a finely detailed timber screen – offering filtered light by day and a lantern-like glow by night – that creates a landmark presence in the local streetscape.
